The rapid expansion rate of zirconia based fixed diameter mouth determines the service life of continuous casting of small billets. Analysis shows that the main reason for expanding the diameter is low product strength and large pores. Therefore, using nanotechnology to reduce the pores of zirconia based fixed diameter nozzles is expected to improve their performance.

The volume density and apparent porosity of the zirconia fixed diameter nozzle body composite with nano zirconia (CY-R30N) after firing at 1500 ℃ for 6 hours are the same as those of the zirconia fixed diameter nozzle before nanocomposition after firing at 1800 ℃ for 6 hours. Moreover, the apparent porosity of the sample after nanocomposition decreases from 19% to 11% after firing at 800 ℃ for 6 hours. Its pore size and volume both decrease, mostly concentrated at 10nm. It can be seen that nano yttrium stabilized zirconia mainly fills the pores, playing a filling role and promoting sintering. Reduce porosity and maintain acid and alkali resistance
